This LARA-compliant training covers what Implicit Biases are, how they impact health professionals, and what interventions health practitioners can do to address them.

This course will provide participants with a framework for finding motivation in their education and clinical roles within physical therapy. Motivation will be explored in terms of basic physiological needs and examining the essential question “why.”

This course presents the current knowledge on innovative approaches to wheelchair skills training for children and adolescents. A renowned program that has been used internationally with adults and recently evaluated in pediatrics is also described.

The unique relationship between the occupational and physical therapist when treating an acute, subacute, or chronic stroke diagnosis will be distinguished in this two-part series. Part two will focus on the subacute and chronic stroke, differentiating the home, outpatient, and community phases of rehabilitation, as well as examining the evaluation, evidence, and interventions in each setting to optimize independence for the patient.

The session begins with an overview of cortical visual impairment (CVI), including the characteristics and in-depth description of the phases of CVI. Strategies for creating an effective environment and considerations to keep in mind while conducting wheelchair evaluation and developing manual and power mobility skills for independence are discussed.

This course integrates research on the lived experience of families who care for their children with severe forms of cerebral palsy. The course links concepts related to comfort theory, wellness, and a basis of understanding for providing empathy-driven, psychologically informed care.
