This course provides therapists with the evidence supporting the use of mobility technology into treatment interventions of the neurologically involved patient in the acute care setting to improve patient outcomes with a safe patient handling interdisciplinary team approach. It will also highlight “low tech” interventions that help maximize trunk balance/control, as well as endurance to improve patient outcomes for discharge planning. This course is directly related to the practice of physical therapy and is therefore appropriate for the PT/PTA.

- Participants will be able to identify at least three strategies that utilize an interdisciplinary team approach incorporating mobility technology into treatment interventions for improved patient outcomes and discharge planning.
- Participants will be able to list at least three therapeutic exercises that maximize trunk balance/control to improve functional outcomes.
- Participants will be able to identify at least three appropriate outcome measures for the acute neurologically involved patient.
- Participants will be able to list at least three Aerobic Exercise activities, with focus on appropriate dosing and assessment, for the acute neurologically involved patient.
