PhD, MSc, BSc (Hons), MHCPC, MCSP
Dr Stuart is an Honorary Clinical Physiotherapist at Northumbria Healthcare NHS trust and a Vice Chancellors Senior Research Fellow at Northumbria University, United Kingdom. He completed his PhD at Newcastle University in 2016, while simultaneously working as an honorary clinical physiotherapist at Newcastle Hospitals NHS trust and within private practice. He underwent post-doctoral training at Newcastle University, before moving in 2017 for further post-doctoral training at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) in the United States of America. At OHSU, he was able to secure a prestigious post-doctoral fellowship for basic scientists from the Parkinson’s Foundation. He moved back home to Northumbria University in 2019 to continue his independent research, where he now directs the Physiotherapy Innovation Laboratory within the Department of Sport, Exercise, and Rehabilitation. He recently secured a prestigious international Clinical Research Award from the Parkinson’s Foundation and currently leads on several other industry collaborative clinical research projects, as well as being co-investigator on various other grants.
