Prevention and Management of Overuse Injuries Associated with Cycling

Course: #3375Level: Introductory 2 Hours 1010 Reviews

As cycling becomes an increasingly popular form of fitness, it is important for physical therapists and other health care practitioners to understand how to effectively diagnose and manage injuries that result from participation in this activity. Because cyclists tend to spend significant hours in the saddle, many of these conditions are classified as overuse problems and are difficult to resolve. This course will provide a comprehensive overview, which describes how overuse conditions association with cycling develop, how the physical therapist’s exam is used to identify problems associated with these injuries and discuss effective intervention plans for enhancing recovery. Strategies for preventing the onset of overuse syndromes associated with cycling will also be discussed. This course is directly related to the practice of physical therapy and athletic training and is therefore appropriate for the PT, PTA and AT.
